Introduction

India Gate is the heart of Delhi, located exactly in the middle of the city, like a human heart. History about India gate

The war ended in 1918, and after one year, a committee came into existence to plan a suitable memorial for the Indian soldiers who had died in that war. After so many discussions, the committee decided to construct a monument to give honor to those brave soldiers. 

There were many designs that came out of many great architectures, but out of those designs, the best design was selected. Sir Edwin Lutyens design was selected as the best design for the monument that will be constructed for the brave soldiers. The construction of the monument began in 1921 and was completed in 1931, after 10 years.

The monument has the names of over 13,000 Indian as well as British soldiers who died during World War I. After India gained independence from British rule in 1947, a special flame called the Amar Jawan Jyoti was added to India Gate. 

The monument is a symbol of honor and Indian military history and a memorial to the brave soldiers.
